To provide protection and washability in bathrooms or high traffic areas, after sanding with 400 grit sandpaper, apply Modern Masters Venetian Plaster Clear Topcoat. It is not scrubbable, but it is easily repaired. After being polished, Venetian Plaster should be treated with care. ![]() For a higher sheen, dust off with a damp soft rag and sand with 600 grit dry sandpaper. Polish:įor a marble-like finish, sand the dry Venetian Plaster in a circular motion with 400 grit dry sandpaper (a palm sander can be used). To create dark and ultra-deep colors, use ModernMasters Venetian Plaster Ultra-Deep Tint Base (VP200 ). To determine the proper amount of tint color to be used, refer to the color formula for a typical pastel paint base. Off-White or pastel colors can be achieved. Venetian Plaster Tint Base is short- filled to allow for tint. ![]() By varying the color, application technique and the amount of polishing, other finishes can be created including stone, worn leather and suede. The finish becomes so smooth it even feels like real marble. The more you polish, the more translucent the finish becomes, re- creating the translucency found in real marble. You can control the sheen level of the finish by simply sanding until the desired sheen is obtained. Venetian Plaster is a finishing technique using thin layers of plaster applied with a spatula or trowel and then polish to create a smooth surface with the illusion of depth and texture.
